God’s Image; God’s Heart

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7
We are made in the likeness and image of God. However, He often has to takes us through a refining process similar to the process in order to cleanse our heart and remove certain personality traits that are not consistent with His character. Similar to the process of porous, He allows the heat to be turned up in our lives to bring all the impurities within to the surface. Once on the surface they are removed and we are polished to determine our level purity. Like a jeweler, He knows we are ready for use when He can see His reflection in us. God desires to use us for His glory in the earth. He is perfecting us day by day to be a beacon of light for the lost and the hurting, but before this can truly happen we must allow Him to mold us into a people after His own heart.
Look at a man the way he is and he only becomes worse, but look at him as if he were what he could be, then he becomes what he should be.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
