Time to Pray

I got up early one morning
and rushed right into the day;
I had so much to accomplish
that I didn’t have time to pray.

Problems just tumbled about me,
and heavier came each task.
“Why doesn’t God help me?” I wondered.
He answered, “You didn’t ask.”

I wanted to see joy and beauty,
but the day toiled on, gray and bleak;
I wondered why God didn’t show me.
He said, “But you didn’t seek.”

I tried to come into God’s presence;
I used all my keys at the lock.
God gently and lovingly chided,
“My child, you didn’t knock.”

I woke up early this morning,
and paused before entering the day;
I had so much to accomplish
that I had to take time to pray.

Prayer

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
John 16:33 (KJV)

There’s never a hit like the one you don’t see coming. It’s the unexpected blows of life that take your breath away and drop you to your knees. When you lose a loved one, receive a negative health diagnosis, or experience tragedy it can leave you feeling hopeless and gasping for air. God’s Word informs us that in this world we will face trials and tribulations, but the flip side of that promise is that although temporarily shaken we can remain steadfast and immovable in the fact that He is bigger than anything we could ever face. Although the flesh may hurt and weep at the time we encounter pain in the world we can rejoice in the fact that He has given us peace and victory through Jesus His Son.

“When the troubles of this world knock you to your knees, you’re in the perfect position to pray.”
